She has penned five novels and was recognized as a nominee for “Breakout Author of the Year” by the African American Literary Association. Additionally, she received the Katherine Dunham Award for “Best Choreography” for her outstanding work on the musical The Color Purple and earned a nomination for “Best Choreography” for her contributions to the musical Dreamgirls.
